Young girl found in cab with trucker admits to asking driver for a ride

Officials are now saying that the man found with a 14-year-old girl in his cab had been asked for a ride by the runaway.

The girl, who had previously been reported missing, was found with 57-year-old truck driver Robert Phillips on October 15th near London, Kentucky.

Police discovered the girl unharmed but in possession of marijuana and CBD oil, so Phillips was taken into custody on charges of unlawful transaction with a minor and marijuana possession.

According to WKYT News, the girl later told investigators that she had not been taken against her will and that she had asked Phillips to pick her up and give her a ride. The unnamed girl also claims that, during their ride, Phillips had rolled her a joint for her to smoke, as well as given her CBD oil under her tongue.

At present, Phillips remains in the Laurel County Detention Center on $25,000 cash bond.
