The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) says that troopers are “working a big pileup” on I-70 on Tuesday afternoon.
The pileup crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on December 31 west of Georgetown, Colorado.
Troopers say that nine vehicles, including a commercial vehicle car hauler, were involved in a crash in the eastbound lanes of I-70 at mile marker 227.
Several people have been hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries. “
According to the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office, I-70 east is closed from mile marker 205 to mile marker 227.
“We have another big road closure to avoid. Take your time and grab a bite to eat if you are headed back to Denver from the mountains this afternoon. Troopers are working a big pileup on eastbound I-70 coming down into Georgetown and the interstate has been closed at Silverthorne. There is no estimated time to re-open. We are working hard to clear the lanes. Check her for an update and on cotrip.org . Westbound remains open,” the Colorado State Patrol advised shortly after 3 p.m.
