An Illinois State Police (ISP) squad car was hit by a passing vehicle while the trooper was inspecting a semi truck along a busy interstate.
At 12:40 p.m. on April 21, an ISP trooper was conducting a commercial vehicle inspection on a semi truck on the shoulder of I-55 northbound near East Lake Shore Drive at mile marker 88.
ISP said that the squad car’s emergency lights were activated while the trooper was outside of the vehicle visually inspecting the semi truck.

Troopers say that a U-Haul truck pulling a trailer failed to move over and sideswiped the squad car.

U-Haul driver Lynn Pulfrey, 79, of Rockford, Illinois, was cited for Improper Lane Usage and a Scott’s Law/Move Over Law violation.
ISP noted that a person who violates the Move Over Law faces a fine of no less than $250 and no more than $10,000 for a first offense. If the violation results in injury to another person, the violator’s driver’s license will be suspended for a mandatory period of anywhere between six months and two years. Additional
