Kaleb Whitby’s pickup truck was crushed when it was sandwiched between two semi trucks during yesterday’s massive I-84 pileup in Oregon.
The pileup, caused by black ice, produced many startling images of twisted steel and wild crashes, but one image in particular caught a miracle among the chaos.
In the photo below, you can see what’s left of Whitby’s truck (there’s not much left), with the driver still strapped to his seat by his seat belt.
Here’s a look at the truck from another angle.
Not only did Whitby survive, but he made it out with only a few scratches. In addition to Whitby’s miraculous survival, there was not a single death that occurred due to the pileup, even though over 20 vehicles were involved.
Looks like the highway angels were watching over this stretch of treacherous road yesterday.
