The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) responded to a major crash and cargo spill in Spartanburg County on Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred on July 1, 2025, on I-26 at mile marker 26 near Dorman.
Police said that a tractor trailer driver traveling west on I-26 fell asleep and struck a cable carrier, FOX Carolina reports.
The truck driver was not injured.
SCHP said that the truck driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
The crash left the truck’s load of chicken carcasses spilled out on the roadway and in the grassy I-26 median.
The incident required extensive cleanup, with the South Carolina Department of Transportation bringing in sand trucks to help with the spill.
