The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) released new information on a multi-vehicle crash that took place on the Florida Turnpike last week.
The crash took place on September 19 on the northbound Florida Turnpike near SR-417 (mile marker 250) in Orange County.
FHP said that a semi truck changed lanes and sideswiped a Camry. This caused a Dodge Ram driver to swerve and strike both vehicles before overturning. The Dodge Ram hit an FHP cruiser parked on the outside shoulder of the Turnpike, pushing the cruiser into the path of a Buick SUV.
“Our trooper, who was standing outside his patrol car, darted out of the way as the crash unfolded. He and the Dodge Ram driver were transported to the hospital with only minor injuries. The other drivers were not injured,” FHP said.
Troopers are reminding drivers to change lanes safely, stay alert, and give full attention to the road.
