A devastating pileup occurred today on the Interstate 84 in Baker City, Oregon involving more than a dozen semi trucks, several of which were hauling hazardous materials according to the Oregon DOT.
The pile up occurred near mile marker 318. According to OSP about 20 vehicles slipped on black ice and crashed.
One woman, Jolynn Stevenson, who stopped to help an injured truck driver laying on the highway floor said she could hear several more accidents occur behind them as she was attending to the injured man.
“As I’m working on him we could hear more trucks hitting into the back end of this accident,” she said.
Four people were injured in the pileup, and the severity of their injuries remain unknown. Thankfully, there were no deaths.
The highway was shut down in both directions, but the eastbound lanes are expected to open up later tonight.
