The truck driver trapped inside of his rig after a bridge collapsed in South Carolina on Monday says that, once he realized he was trapped, he just left it up to God.

Larry Beckham was driving his semi truck along Highway 145 in Chesterfield, South Carolina on September 17th when the bridge he was crossing suddenly collapsed, taking him and his truck down with it.

Luckily, Beckham was able to be rescued and did not suffer any serious injuries. He is now recovering at home, where he has declined to speak to the media, but his wife recently made a Facebook post describing the situation and voicing her relief.

“He at that time said ‘God, I’ve done all I can do. It is in your hands now,’” read her post.

The highway has been shut down since the incident. Though crews have begun repairing the bridge, there is no word on when the stretch of road may reopen.
