A truck driver allegedly threatened another trucker with a wooden tire thumper at a truck stop late last week.
It happened on Friday, June 30th at the Steuben County Travel Center in Kanona, New York.
According to Star-Gazette, Robert E. Hewitt was inside his cab at the Steuben County Pilot truck stop when a truck driver parked nearby asked if he could keep the noise down.
Upon being asked to reduce the noise, Hewitt allegedly threatened the other driver with a wooden tire thumper
Hewitt was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon and menacing. Police say he seemed to be intoxicated and had been the cause of several other noise complaints at the travel center that day.
Hewitt is currently in jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 property bond and will appear in court on July 10th.
