A team of truckers assisted in preventing a suicide in Florida on Tuesday by lining up beneath the overpass where the man stood, shortening his potential fall.
The incident happened on August 28th at around 1:00 p.m. in Orlando, Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man climbed over the fence lining the South Kirman Road overpass on the Florida Turnpike and threatened to jump. The authorities were called and the Florida Highway Patrol secured the help of five nearby truckers and a dump truck driver who agreed to line up beneath the overpass, creating a sort of platform the break the suicidal man’s potential fall.
Both directions of the Florida Turnpike were shut down at mile marker 260 but eventually, around 2:00 p.m., officers were able to talk the man off the ledge without incident, reported Click Orlando.
“Special thanks to the truck drivers that assisted us out there,” stated the Orlando Police.
This is the third time this year semi trucks and their drivers have been used in an attempt to break a suicidal man’s fall– the first in Michigan back in April, and the second in North Carolina in July.
