A police officer is being recognized for springing into action to help save a truck driver after a recent rollover crash.
On January 12, 2026, the LSU Police Department located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, highlighted a rescue performed by Sgt. T. Schiebe after a recent semi truck rollover crash.
While Sgt. Schiebe was off duty and traveling with family in Alabama, he encountered a serious crash involving an 18 wheeler that overturned after a tire blowout.

“Demonstrating exceptional courage and sound judgment under pressure, he assessed the situation and safely extricated the injured driver by cutting him free and assisting him through the shattered windshield,” the LSU Police Department said.
After helping the truck driver out of the vehicle, Sgt. Schiebe used a first aid kit provided by a motorist to administer care to the truck driver until emergency responders arrived.
“Sgt. Schiebe’s actions reflect a genuine commitment to helping others in moments of need and embodies the values of service, professionalism, and compassion upheld by the LSU Police Department. His willingness to act, regardless of duty status or location, is an example of the dedication our officers bring to public safety every day,” the LSU Police Department said.
