The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol said that a motorist was charged following a serious crash involving a stationary semi truck in the Tonopah area.
Troopers said that the crash occurred on I-10 just before 1 a.m. on October 16, 2025.
A red Nissan Frontier was traveling east on I-10 when it collided with a semi truck sitting stationary on the right emergency shoulder.
The Nissan driver was transported to a hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
“During the investigation, a Trooper observed signs of impairment and discovered illegal substances in the driver’s possession. The individual was subsequently charged with DUI and multiple felony drug offenses,” AZDPS said in a social media post.
“Given the state of the car, he is extremely lucky to be alive,” officials noted. “DUI + Drug Possession = JAIL.”
