A truck driver was killed on Thursday in a catastrophic collision involving three semi trucks. It happened around 4 a.m. near the Lake Lawrence exit on I-20 in Newton County, Mississippi.
Trooper Andy West explained, “One vehicle hit the first, then the third hit the back of the second.”
WJTV reported that four people were involved in the crash. A UPS truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of one semi were hospitalized, and the third driver was not injured.
The accident blocked traffic on I-20 eastbound at exit 100. As of 8:30 a.m., one lane was reopened. By 10:15 a.m., MDOT reported that delays are to be expected for several more hours.
The incident remains under investigation.
