A herd of deer was recently filmed crossing a highway overpass in front of traffic and jumping the concrete barrier, plunging to their deaths on the hard ground below.
The video was posted to Facebook by user Cat Veerhusen on Saturday, December 10th and has since been shared more that 50,000 times.
In the clip, a herd of deer can be seen bounding across the highway and jumping over the concrete barrier in front of oncoming traffic.
The traffic seems to be moving slow enough that the deer cross without much danger to themselves or the motorists, but what is not obvious in the video is that the highway is actually an overpass, and over the concrete barrier lies “probably a 20 foot drop maybe 25,” as described by Nick Veerhusen, a person tagged in the post by Cat.
The deer then plummet to the ground below, killed on impact.
“Looked like broken necks to me,” Nick commented.
“I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Those poor deer…” commented one Facebook user.
“Shoulda called the local sheriff and claimed that buck. That rack would go for a good dollar,” added another.
“Mom always did say if your friends jumped off a bridge would you jump too… here’s that answer,” one wrote.
