A trucker was stabbed during a dispute over parking at a Pilot Travel Center in Arizona on Monday.

The stabbing happened on April 24th at approximately 3:00 p.m. in Rio Rico, Arizona.

According to Sheriff Antonio Estrada, truckers Ahmet Gumoskaya and Dereck Johnson got into a disagreement over a parking spot in the parking lot of the Pilot Travel Center, which soon escalated and continued inside the travel center, where Johnson pulled out a knife and stabbed Gumoskaya “in the frontal area numerous times.”

Gumoskaya was described by Estrada as “bleeding profusely” causing him to lose consciousness. He was transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition, reported Nogales International News.

“There was a dispute, a disagreement over parking of the tractor-trailers on the lot there,” Estrada explained.

“The suspect obviously took out a knife, yielded a knife, and stabbed the victim in the frontal area numerous times. Johnson was standing by for the arrival of law enforcement, so he did not attempt to go anywhere,” he continued.

Johnson was then arrested on charges of attempted second degree murder.

This is the second stabbing in the Rio Rico area in the last week, leaving law enforcement bewildered and concerned.

“This is unprecedented. Two knifings within a week period is something we have not experienced for a long time,” Estrada said.
