The second truck driver to be robbed and beaten at a Wisconsin rest stop in a week has spoken out about the severity of the attack.

The attack occurred just before 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 7th in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

The 39-year-old trucker, who name has been released only as “Robert,” came out with the details of the attack earlier this week.

According to Fox 6, on the evening of September 6th, Robert pulled his big rig into the Tourist Information Center near Highway 165 and Interstate 94 to stop for the night. The following morning at approximately 6 a.m., Robert was using the rest stop bathroom when he was attacked from behind.

“I believe I started brushing my teeth or used the urinal. The only thing I can remember was hearing loud shuffling behind me,” Robert said.

Robert was beaten and robbed in the restroom. Later that morning, a Good Samaritan discovered blood in the bathroom and called the police. Officers found Robert in the parking lot with a concussion, five broken ribs, and a portion of his ear missing.

“I’m just grateful to be alive,” Robert continued.

Doctors were able to reattach Robert’s ear, but the trucker still faces a long road to recovery. Robert will have to go through both physical and speech therapy before he can return to work.

“Pretty much all they got was my wallet. My wallet was missing,” added Robert, who said there was only about $100 on him at the time.

“I wish there weren’t people in this world that did that… It is evil and I hope they catch this person.”

Robert says his company has been very understanding through the ordeal, and that he plans to return to work whenever he feels ready.

“The truck drivers I’ve met are hard working people. We don’t need this in this world,” Robert added.

Robert’s attack was the second of two trucker robberies last week. The first one occurred on September 4th at a rest stop in Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Police are investigating any possible link in these two cases.

A person of interest in Robert’s attack was caught on surveillance camera. Officer’s describe the suspect as a “tall individual.”

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call Kenosha Area Crime Stoppers at (262)-656-7333.
