
A trucker and his dog were successfully rescued after the driver swerved to avoid a deer, rolling the rig and trapping himself and his dog inside.
The accident happened on Tuesday, May 8th at approximately 11:00 p.m. in Theresa, New York.
According to WWNYTV News, the unnamed truck driver was traveling on State Route 37 when he suddenly swerved to avoid a deer in the road. The big rig the overturned, trapping the trucker and his dog inside the wrecked cab.
The driver and dog were trapped for around 45 minutes, but were eventually rescued by members of the Theresa Fire Department. Both the dog and driver sustained only minor injuries, but were transported to a nearby hospital and veterinarian, respectively, as a precaution.
“He [the driver] actually walked away from the truck. We got him on a stretcher,” said Theresa Fire Chief Mark Savage.
“He was in good spirits when he left here. Lots of cuts and bruises, a little sore, but other than that, he’s alive and doing well.”
