A truck driver was caught stealing and selling his employer’s batteries for thousands of dollars in profit in Texas recently.

The man was arrested on Wednesday, August 1st in San Antonio, Texas.

According to Fox San Antonio, 43-year-old company truck driver Daniel Ortiz was confronted by Arnold Oil Company, his employer, after the company realized almost 72,000 pounds of their batteries had been sold instead of recycled over the last five months.

Upon investigation of the situation, Arnold Oil Company discovered surveillance photos of Ortiz selling batteries instead of picking up battery cores from various locations and turning them in each day for recycling, as was supposed to be his job.

Ortiz was promptly arrested and charged with theft of $2,500-$30,000. He is thought to have made around $26,000 off the stolen battery sales.
