A trucker and his family are on the search for their missing dog after the pup hopped out of the semi truck and took off.
The teacup Pomeranian, known as “Captain,” was lost on Friday, October 12th on Interstate 41 near Allenton, Wisconsin.
According to Fox 6 Now, the truck driver, whose name has not been released, was hauling heavy equipment meant to help with Hurricane Michael relief when he pulled over to check on his load. As he walked around to the trailer, the little dog hopped out and wandered away, leaving the trucker and his family desperately searching for their beloved pup.
Mother and wife Stephanie Williamson and her daughter, Caity, say they’ve been searching for their pet continuously since the day he was lost, putting up posters everywhere they can along a 60 mile stretch of highway.
“Captain must have jumped out when my dad pulled over to check a strap,” Caity said of the incident.
“Everyone has been helping us. They’ve been helping us put posters up since Friday… We’ve come down here every single day. We’ve been putting posters up from Lomira to Milwaukee,” Stephanie added.
“We know that anyone would be lucky to have him, but he’s not theirs. He’s ours… Everyone that knows us, knows he’s a huge part of our family,” Stephanie continued.
The family, who says Captain has logged thousands of miles in the truck accompanying their husband and father, is offering a $2,500 reward for their pet and warns that the dog was not wearing a collar but is microchipped.
“He sits right on the dashboard. That’s where he sits. Right on the dash,” added Stephanie.
