A tractor trailer hauling heavy machinery split in half while climbing a hill in Florida on Thursday.
The incident occurred on May 31st in Alachua, Florida.
According to WCJB News, the truck was hauling a drilling machine from Sandvik along Northwest 140th Street when it tried to climb a hill. The weight of the machinery combined with the strain of the incline caused the trailer to snap in half.
A crane was called to unload the machine off the broken truck and onto a new one, shutting down the roadway for several hours as crews worked to clear the incident.
“I’m just glad they got it out now it’s been a long time since the road closed up and people couldn’t get to school and make the turns,” said Charles Martin, a witness to the scene.
Crews were able to reload the drilling equipment onto another tractor trailer so the machine could continue on its way. The area has since been cleared.
