The Women in Trucking Association has awarded one lucky truck driver with her very own semi truck following her entry into the association’s essay contest.

Applicants in the WIT essay contest were instructed to compose an essay on the importance of attracting more women into the trucking industry and contest winner Tiffany Hanna, a Navy veteran and mother of five, rose to the challenge.

Hanna has been working as a driver and trainer for Prime Inc. since 2014 and has been an advocate for female truck drivers within the company, as well as a member of the Prime Driver Advisory Board, since that time. She is also an active participant in Prime’s annual Highway Diamonds celebration, an event hosted by Prime to pay tribute to their female drivers.

Hanna was announced as the winner of the essay contest at the 9th annual “Salute to Women Behind the Wheel,” at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, March 24th, where she was awarded her new semi truck and honored for her accomplishments in front of a crowd, reported PR Web News.

“We are thrilled to hand over the keys to Tiffany, who has been an advocate for women in the trucking industry by mentoring and supporting the women and men at Prime Inc.,” said WIT president and CEO Ellen Voie.

“This truly the chance of a lifetime, thanks to Arrow Truck Sales and their very generous donation,” she continued, handing Hanna the keys to her very own 2014 Volvo VNL670.

“Women need to know they can be successful in trucking and can do the job just as well, IF not better, than a man,” wrote Hanna in her essay.

On top of her brand new Volvo semi truck, Hanna received $20,000 worth of additional trucking related products, including 10 BF Goodrich tires, new bedding and mattress topper, as well as new wheel fairings and wheel covers.
