A truck driver was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment after driving over a fire hose in Tennessee on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on April 4th in Chattanooga, Tennessee during a fire that burnt down a local gun shop.

According to WDEF News, fire fighters were working on extinguishing an electrical fire started in the air ducts of the Shooter’s Depot on Shallowford Road when the semi truck drove around some fire equipment and over a large hose being used to fight the fire.

The truck driver, Joel Dawson, then continued on his way but was chased down by a Chattanooga Police officer who issued him a citation for reckless endangerment and took him into custody, explained Chattanooga Police Chief Rick Boatwright.

“These fire hoses are lifelines for our firefighters”, said Boatwright, who says he is glad one of his officers chased down the truck driver.

“If you bust a fire hose while driving over it, you’ve taken away the protection the firefighters must have while fighting a fire.”
