Two truckers prevented a potential catastrophe in Illinois Sunday by guiding a swerving motorist off the road.

The incident happened on August 12th at around 3:30 p.m. near Troy, Illinois.

According to the Illinois State Police, a call came in reporting a minivan on Interstate 70 driving “all over the road,” and was shortly followed by a call reporting that the same driver had crashed into the median, gotten out to inspect the car, and then continued east onto the highway at about 20 mph.

Two semi truck drivers then realized what was going on and boxed in the van, forcing it onto the shoulder of the highway as it came to a stop.

The truckers confiscated the keys from the driver and kept him around until police arrived and the 33-year-old unnamed motorist was then placed under arrest on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, reported the Bellevue News-Democrat.

“This truck driver may have prevented this driver from being injured or injuring others,” said Trooper Calvin Dye Jr.
