The classic American trucking story ‘Smokey and The Bandit’ celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, and there have been many events around the country allowing fans to relive the experience. The original film played on big screens in theaters nationwide, and stunt drivers recreated the famous “bandit jump” scene in front of a live audience.
But one group decided to celebrate in a different way. Instead of reliving the past, they decided to recreate the vehicles of the movie as modern-day concepts.
Bandit’s original 1977 Pontiac Trans Am Firedbird was remade into a Trans Am Depot Super Duty.
Sheriff Buford T. Justice’s 1977 Pontiac LeMans remade into a Dodge Charger Hellcat.
And Snowman’s classic Kenworth truck remade into an electric Tesla-ish big rig.
The concepts were created by the team at Carspring, an online marketplace for vehicles in the U.K.
