The inconic Mulberry bridge jump scene from Smokey & The Bandit will be performed live as part of the movie’s 40th year anniversary celebration.

The 150-foot ‘Bandit Jump’ event will take place in Jonesboro, Georgia on June 24th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.at Lee Street Park.

The proceeds from the event will benefit DAV, a non-profit organization aimed at helping disabled American veterans, as well as the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre.

As reported by Overdrive Magazine, California-based owner-operator, and film stunt man Tony Pennello will be performing the jump.

A Smokey and the Bandit celebration event spanning June 22nd through the 24th is being planned around the jump and will include a tour of filming sites, a trip to Atlanta Motor Speedway, nightly social gatherings, and other scene reenactments.

According to the Bandit Jump website, Burt Reynolds will be attending the event and may even be available for photos and autographs. Reynolds will be there to “celebrate alongside his lifelong fan base” and to “make sure the primary beneficiary of the event [is] DAV.”

The original Smokey & The Bandit will also be re-released in theaters later this month to celebrate the anniversary.
