Two truck drivers helped a police officer in the arrest of a speeding motorist by blocking the two-lane roadway in Indiana earlier this week.
The incident happened on Tuesday, March 20th near La Porte, Indiana.
According to Indiana State Police, state trooper Dustin Eggert was traveling on the Indiana Toll Road at around 7:00 p.m. when he saw an orange Dodge Challenger Hellcat speed past him, weaving between cars and failing to use turn signals. Eggert then pursued the motorist, reaching speeds of 150 mph, but was still unable to catch up with the vehicle. He then radioed for backup and continued his pursuit.
Just as Eggert thought he had lost the lightning fast vehicle, he came across two semi trucks traveling side by side in the two lane roadway, blocking the motorist’s path and preventing him from speeding forward.
The Hellcat soon pulled over and the driver, 38 year old J. Jesus Duran Sandoval, told the trooper that he had been going 160 mph because he was “just trying to get to Maryland.” Upon inspection of Sandoval’s paperwork, Eggert discovered that Sandoval had been driving on an expired license. Sandoval was issued a ticket for reckless driving, and was brought to the LaPorte County jail on $505 bond, reported CBS Chicago.
It is not clear whether Sandoval’s bail has been posted, but he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, April 2nd.
