A motorist became trapped beneath a semi truck after hitting a pedestrian and attempting to flee the scene in California on Monday.
The incident occurred on August 13th at around 12:38 a.m. in Victorville, California.
According to Victor Valley News, a woman in a 2007 silver Honda Accord rear ended another vehicle in a McDonald’s parking lot on the 2100 block of Mariposa Road. As the man in the hit car got out to check on the damage, the woman in the Honda struck him with her car and fled the scene.
“My husband got out the car and was checking our bumper and her bumper for damage, as he was bending over she struck him in the head with her car and took off, his head began gushing blood,” said the wife of the victim.
The woman in the Honda then left the McDonald’s and headed south on Mariposa road, where she attempted to turn east on Bear Valley Road – that’s when she struck the side of a Ralphs/Food 4 Less semi truck, wedging the front of the Honda beneath the trailer.
The unnamed woman had to be extricated from the car and was quickly flown to a hospital in critical condition.
“I just left from doing a delivery at Food 4 Less on Kiowa Road and was heading to Barstow,” the trucker said of the incident.
“I was waiting for the light to turn green and noticed a Honda driving really fast through the intersection, probably 40 miles per hour. Then she turned left, lost control and crashed right under my truck,” the unnamed trucker continued.
The male struck in the McDonald’s parking lot was not seriously injured and opted to drive himself to the hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.
