A Houston family is on the search for their semi truck after it was stolen from a parking lot just two months after purchase.
The truck is a brown Peterbilt of an undisclosed year and was stolen out of a Houston, Texas area truck stop parking lot sometime before Tuesday, March 6th.
“It was a brown, sharp nose Peterbilt 388, aluminum wheels and it had tanking equipment on it for the hose,” explained truck driver Cornelius Addison, who had been saving up to buy a truck with his wife, April, for years. The couple were finally able to purchase the rig back in January, but now, they’re not sure what will happen next.
“I went up there [to the place the truck was parked] on Tuesday morning. I went up there to get my card and check out my truck but it was gone. I circled around the parking lot a couple times hoping that I was, you know, hallucinating,” said Addison, but unfortunately he was not. The couple then contacted Houston Police and even checked local surveillance cameras, but to no avail.
“You know, we’re young and hardworking and for someone to come up and just take things… and of course he’s been strong but when I got off work I was just totally devastated. I just broke down because who would do something like that you know,” April told Fox 26 Houston.
“It really took me to gain my faith back again because you kind of turn into an angry person because like someone just taking from you, you didn’t sacrifice, you don’t know what our troubles are or what it took to accomplish things,” she continued.
Addison says that his insurance company must investigate the case for at least 30 days before he receives any reimbursement, but that the down payment is gone
“That’s the main source that we use to provide for our family. It hurts… I mean it’s a big loss,” said Addison.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen truck is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
