Hogs clogged a highway late Wednesday morning after the tractor trailer hauling them overturned, freeing the swine.

The accident occurred on July 18th at around 10:05 a.m. in Mankato, Minnesota.

Minnesota Department of Transportation Officials say that the semi truck swerved off the ramp from westbound Highway 14 to southbound Highway 169, overturning in a grassy median and allowing multiple pigs to escape the trailer through holes torn in the roof upon impact.

Officials worked to corral the hogs as the truck driver was treated for minor injuries on scene, forcing the closure of the westbound Highway 14 to southbound Highway 169 ramp as crews worked to capture the animals and clear the wrecked tractor trailer.

There were about 20-30 hogs inside the trailer at the time of the wreck. None were killed in the crash, reported the Mankato Free Press.

The incident is still under investigation and the exact reason for the overturned semi truck has not yet been determined.
