Back in October a massive rainstorm hit Tehachapi, California, causing large mudslides and flash floods, and shutting down several major highways. Two days after the storm, someone flew a camera-equipped drone over Highway 58 and captured this jaw-dropping footage.

Although the storm was heavily reported on as it occurred, this footage gives some new insight on the devastation that took place.

According to reports, a total of 78 passenger vehicles, 2 buses, 36 trucks, 1 RV & 1 travel trailer were buried in the mud after the storm.

The footage was taken by storm chaser Edward Czajka, on October 17th 2015.

Meteorologists say a storm of this magnitude is a once in a thousand year event — which means, hopefully, we won’t see another one any time soon.
