Traffic was backed up for more than 10 miles on Friday, after a portion of California’s State Route 58, near the 14 Freeway, was closed due to flooding.
California Highway Patrol says hundreds of semi trucks are stuck in the traffic jam in Tehachapi.
Los Angeles County was hit with massive floods as a result of heavy thunderstorms and torrential rain which covered the area on Thursday evening. The flooding eventually lead to large mudslides, which some witnesses described as “fast-moving rivers” of mud.
Motorists are being asked to avoid State Route 58 in Tehachapi. CHP says it’s expected to be closed for several days.
Multiple law enforcement agencies have teamed up to help drivers who are stranded in the area.
