A trucker jack-knifed his truck on purpose to keep from hitting a reckless school bus early Thursday morning.

It happened in Sydney, Australia on the M5 motorway.

According to Daily Mail, the semi truck was driving approximately 62 miles per hour in the left lane when a school bus swerved from the exit lane back onto the highway, severely cutting off the big rig.

The truck driver, Daryl Wilson, quickly turned the wheel to avoid the school bus, jack-knifing his trailer and sending up plumes of smoke.

The bus driver, Kazem Afkhamisaddoghi, continued driving the bus as if nothing had happened and eventually had to be escorted to the shoulder by other motorists.

“I put my car in front of the bus and slowed him down” claimed Daniel O’Sullivan, a witness to the near-tragedy. “A truck driver observed what I was doing and we herded him into the help point area,” he added.

“I expected carnage on the road,” admitted O’Sullivan. ‘I could observe children in the bus,” he said. “I expected they’d be severely injured if not killed.”

Thanks to the fast-acting efforts of trucker Daryl Wilson, nobody was injured in the accident.

“I’m very, very sorry about this,” says Afkhamisaddoghi, the driver of the school bus.

“I don’t know how I can to say it because my English language is not very good and I can’t say all the words in my heart,” he concluded.
