A semi truck was rear ended over the weekend after the driver pulled over onto the shoulder to “observe” as another big rig caught fire.

The incident occurred on Sunday, June 10th at around 9:45 p.m. in El Paso, Texas.

According to KVIA News, a semi truck was traveling along Interstate 10 when, for reasons that are not yet known, the trailer caught fire. The driver then pulled over onto the shoulder of the roadway and began detaching the trailer from the tractor, attracting the attention of a second truck driver, who pulled over behind the burning big rig to “observe” the situation. A third truck driver then rear ended the “observing” driver, seriously damaging the trailer.

One person was transported to a nearby hospital as a result of the incident, but officials say it is not clear if that person was one of the truck drivers involved in the incident.

The burning trailer was considered a total loss and the “observing” tractor trailer was seriously damaged, but it is not yet clear if any of the truck drivers have been issued citations as a result of the incident.
