A truck driving couple hauling $2 million worth of meth called the police to report a stolen semi tire last week, a decision that inadvertently led to their own arrest.
The incident occurred at around 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3rd in Anahuac, Texas.
The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office reports that they received a call from a couple regarding a stolen semi truck tire at a rest stop on Interstate 10 in Chambers County. An officer responded to the scene, located a tractor trailer missing some rear tires, and began a closer inspection of the big rig, during which he discovered some suspicious inconsistencies in the trailer. The officer then discovered 43 pounds of meth hidden inside secret compartments along the trailer, worth nearly $2 million.
48 year old Dan Roba and 45 year old Bianca Roba, the drivers of the truck and the individuals who placed the initial call, were then taken into custody and booked into the Chambers County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, a charge that could get them a first degree felony.
The two come from Hollandale Beach, Florida.
