Two semi trucks ended up in a ditch on Monday morning after simultaneously attempting to climb a hill covered in black ice.

The accident happened on April 16th at approximately 5:00 a.m. in Chain of Ponds, Maine.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, truck drivers Carl Pepin and Francis Boulanger were simultaneously driving their rigs up a hill on Natanis Point Road when Boulanger, who was hauling plywood, slid into Pepin’s logging truck, forcing it to overturn into a roadside ditch. Boulanger’s truck then also went into the ditch, pinning the logging truck between an embankment and Boulanger’s rig.

Luckily, neither truck driver was seriously injured in the wreck, but the load of logs was spilled from Pepin’s semi truck, littering the shoulder of the roadway, reported The Sun Journal.

Franklin County Deputy Brian McCormick says that freezing rain, high winds, and black ice were all factors in the crash.

Since the accident, Natanis point Road has been closed due to dangerous conditions. As of 11:25 a.m. on Tuesday morning the roadway was still shut down with no estimated time of reopening.
