Charlene Munn is a newspaper delivery woman for the Daily News. On Oct 5th, on one of her early morning routes, she noticed 2 police officers attempting to arrest a suspect. The suspect was trying to steal a car when he was spotted by local police. After a scuffle, Oriol managed to escape the policemen and ran in the direction that Munn was heading.
The two police officer gave chase and Munn noticed that they were running alongside her truck so she instinctively told them to hop in. Which is exactly what they did, while her truck was still moving (Like a scene out of an action movie).
As the officer hung on to the inside of her delivery vehicle, she was able to catch up to the suspect and help the NYPD put him away.
She went right along with her business after helping them, because she has a job to do, but the NYPD didn’t forget show their appreciation for the big help she was. They jokingly offered to make her an honorary deputy but she kindly declined.
And that’s how one Daily News driver, happened to make the daily news herself.
