A man was arrested for using his trucking company in a drug trafficking scheme. He was charged in connection to hauling thousands of pounds of marijuana and cocaine into Florida from across the nation
On Friday, the 39-year-old president of P&T Transportation was arrested after an investigation that spanned two years.
Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings explained in a press release, “This organization is suspected of importing hundreds of pounds of cannabis each year, multiple kilos of cocaine per month, and were conspiring to bring opioids into Central Florida to sell on our streets.”
Nine other individuals, including some of the company’s truck drivers, have either been arrested or have warrants for their arrest. According to News 6, five of the suspects are on the run.
Investigators explained that the suspects hid the drugs alongside legal loads during deliveries.
Ron Stucker, director of the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation, stated “He was hauling legitimate loads for businesses…[they] probably had no idea what else was in his truck. He would go and pick up loads for various businesses and put his own product on there, too.”
Once the drugs reached Florida, they were unloaded and divided among dealers and users.
Truong has been charged with trafficking cannabis, over 400 grams of cocaine, and 1,500 oxycodone pills with intent to sell or deliver. He also faces charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act which penalizes organized crime.
Under Florida statute, Truong faces up to 25 years in prison for the charges.
