A truck driver was killed after being run over by his own rig in Texas on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened on April 18th at around 10:00 a.m. in Longview, Texas.
According to Longview Police Officer Shane McCarter, 57-year-old truck driver John Warren Young had pulled over near gate six at the Jennings Scrap and Salvage on East Marshall Avenue and gotten out of his truck. After Young exited the truck, the big rig began rolling, and Young attempted to climb back inside. As he was climbing back in, Young got caught beneath one of the axles and was dragged underneath the rig, which rolled over him before traveling down a hill and into a drainage ditch.
Young was killed in the accident, reported CBS 19.
Jennings Scrap and Salvage says that Young was a contracted truck driver from Dallas who had traveled to Longview in order to haul scrap back to Dallas.
Police are still investigating the incident, but are treating it as an accident and do not suspect foul play.
