Police say a trucker saved ‘countless lives’ in California today after taking a runaway ramp at such a speed that he almost cleared the top of the hill.
According to the California Highway Patrol Grapevine division, the semi truck was traveling on the north side of Grapevine, California on Thursday, October 12th when the truck driver lost control.
The trucker then used the east runaway truck ramp to slow his rig, but the truck was traveling at such a high speed that it made it all the way to the top of the ramp, landing amongst the gravel piled at the top.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The exact cause of the accident is still unknown.
“Pay attention to what is going on all around you. Leave yourself an opening to take evasive action in case you need it,” wrote the California Highway Patrol.
“You never know what you may encounter. Be safe.”
