The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a truck crash that spilled cartons of eggs into the highway median.
The crash occurred around 5 a.m. on May 1 on eastbound I-80 near Truckee.
Troopers say that a big rig hauling eggs flipped into the center median on I-80 eastbound, at Donner Gate, “leaving behind one egg-splosive situation.”
Only minor injuries were reported.
“With egg prices the way they are, this might be the most expensive mess we’ve seen all year,” said CHP’s Truckee Division.
Eastbound I-80 is open on Thursday morning, but drivers are warned to watch out for cleanup crews in the area.
