Truck Drivers Steals $400,000 Worth Of Merchandise, Sells It On Ebay

From November 2012 to December 2013, over $400,000 worth of designer Tory Burch merchandise was stolen and sold on eBay.

The perpetrators were the man who was supposed to deliver the products to stores, Gewan Ramtahal, and his friend Debbie Caricola, who auctioned the items on the website.

The 36-year-old truck driver would take his loads not to the authorized stores, but to Caricola’s new home in Kannapolis, N.C. where she then listed over 1,500 products at discount prices. She would share a percentage of the profit with Ramtahal.

Both were caught in 2013 and both pleaded not guilty. They were freed on $250,000 bond but didn’t get off too easy. Ramtahal was denied working for the transportation industry and Caricola was banned from using the internet for any purchases until the case was over.

Recently, they have now both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit interstate theft and Ramtahal pleaded guilty to interstate and cargo theft. Though they are both free on bond, in January they will face prison time for their crimes.

Authorities reclaimed over $200,000 from their bank accounts as well as a number of purses, shoes, wallets and other items.
