A truck driver was cited and taken to a hospital after an accident that sent his load of pipes crashing through the cab of his truck, trapping him inside.
The accident happened on Thursday, July 5th at around 3:55 p.m. in Broussard, Louisiana.
Broussard Police say that the truck driver hit his brakes at a stoplight on US Highway 90 and North Morgan, causing the truck’s load of drill pipes crashing through the cab and pinning the truck driver inside.
The unnamed trucker had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries but has since been listed as being in stable condition, reported KATC News.
The incident shut down the intersection for several hours as crews worked to clear the spilled pipes from the roadway. It has since been reopened.
The driver has been cited for careless operation.
