A truck driver lost his life after a load of steel beams came crashing through the cab of his truck on Friday morning.
As reported by WANE, the accident occurred near a Love’s truck stop in Angola, Indiana. The victim has been identified as forty-four year old Shawn H. Spencer of Rome, Pennsylvania.
According to reports, Spencer was driving west on U.S. 20 when he slammed on the brakes for unknown reasons. The steel beams he was hauling became loose, and they crashed through the cab of his truck.
Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene at the result of this incident.
The Angola Police Department shut down westbound US 20 for five hours while clean-up crews cleared the scene.
No other vehicles were involved and police continue to investigate the scene.
