School bus driver cited after crashing into semi truck stopped at red light

A school bus driver was issued a citation after crashing into the back of a semi truck stopped at a red light on Thursday.

The accident happened on October 11th in Clearwater, Florida.

According to Tampa Bay Newspapers, 67-year-old bus driver, Bernard Lee Gant was driving a school bus west on Ulmerton Road near 58th Street North when he crashed into the back of a 2015 Freightliner semi truck stopped at a red light at an intersection.

Six high school students were on board the bus at the time of the crash and four were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Gant and 45-year-old truck driver William A. Morales were not hurt in the crash.

Police have not disclosed the reason for the crash and it is not yet clear what exactly the bus driver was cited for.
