Police in Maine are investigating a fiery two vehicle collision that happened in Turner on Tuesday morning.
The crash happened at 7:41 a.m. on May 6 in front of a business called Northeastern Firearms, located at 868 Auburn Road (Route 4) in Turner, Maine.
According to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), “Preliminary investigation indicates that a black 2023 Chevrolet pickup truck, operated by Fox Keim, 51, of Cornish, Maine, and registered to Marden’s Inc. of Winslow, was traveling northbound on Route 4 when it crossed the center line. The vehicle collided with a gray Western Star tractor trailer traveling southbound and operated by Roger Eastman, 82, of Milan, New Hampshire. The truck, owned by Eastman Transportation Inc., was empty at the time of the crash. The impact caused the commercial vehicle’s fuel tank to rupture, igniting a fire that fully consumed the tractor trailer. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and are considered total losses.”
Keim required extrication from his vehicle. Both Keim and Eastman were hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) responded to the scene for a significant fuel spill caused by the crash.
