Alachua, Florida — When a lost truck driver decided to turn his rig around, he was berated by a man who pulled up in a BMW along side him. As it turned out, that man happened to be the mayor of the town, Gib Coerper, according to witnesses that were helping the driver.
Trucker Timothy Dixon says the mayor “got out and said he was tired of dumb truck drivers.” Dixon also told WCJB-TV “He went off on me. He got up onto my truck and told me he would get me fired.”
After several witnesses discovered the hostile man was the town’s mayor, he allegedly turned to the driver and said “Yeah, I am the mayor…and I’ll kick your black a**”
The mayor then shoved the truck driver before leaving the scene in his BMW. Dixon says the Alachua mayor also smelt of booze and instead of arguing back decided to “handle it the right way”, letting him drive away without confrontation.
After Dixon dropped off the load he was hauling, he contacted police to file a report. The county’s sheriff office is investigating and no charges have yet been filed.
