Former trucking CEO could get 32 years in jail for stealing from employees

Former trucking CEO, Timothy Kephart, is already in jail serving time for a check-kiting scheme but was sentenced to another 8 to 32 years on July 31st for stealing from the employees who worked for his company, Kephart Trucking.

According to Land Line Magazine, Kephart was charged with hundreds of counts of wage theft for taking money that was withheld from employees’ paychecks for 401(k) contributions and insurance premiums, and using it for personal expenditures.

As a result of Kephart’s failure to pay insurance premiums, the insurance company retroactively canceled employee’s insurance plans, leaving many stuck with large medical bills.

With the stolen money, Kephart is reported to have built a $300,000 barn near his house.

Kephart is currently in federal prison serving time for an unrelated crime. He was previously convicted of writing $3.6 million in bad checks, which he used to purchase several luxury vehicles and fund his lavish lifestyle.
