Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash that occurred in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The crash occurred at 1:36 a.m. on May 22 near the intersection of Technology Parkway and Precision Drive in Fort Collins.
According to the Fort Collins Police Department (FCPD), a semi truck was unoccupied and parked on the south side of Precision Drive.
An Audi SUV was traveling east and partially left the roadway, then collided with the rear of the semi truck’s trailer.
The semi trailer and the SUV were severely damaged in the crash.
The adult female SUV driver required extrication.
The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Police believe excessive speed contributed to the crash, and they say impairment may have also been a factor.
“We urge all drivers to remain vigilant and focused when operating a vehicle. Alert and attentive driving are imperative to roadway safety. Scenes like these are traumatic, not only for those involved, but also the responding officers and investigators,” said Sergeant David Lindsay, who oversees the FCPS Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling (CRASH) Team.
The crash is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call Officer Kevin Alexander at (970) 221-6540.
