Here’s a classic “let’s throw money out the window because we did something stupid” scenario. We’ve all heard it before, but it’s still good advice: when you don’t know what you’re doing, take it to an expert.
When it comes to seating a tire, the cost to have it done is far better than losing your wheel or worse, your head.
If you have to blow a tire to the rim, a bead blaster would have been better than this.
It takes very little to create the blast, and you can watch this guy putting way too much in the tire, when it was the igniter that failed. He should have tested the igniter to make sure it was working correctly and practiced on an old wheel first if he was going to go through with it.
As a young mechanic, I saw first hand someone do this, and it scared me to the point that if I needed it, I had it done.
