A beer truck driver saved an elderly woman from an armed mugging in New Mexico earlier this month.
The incident happened in early September at a CVS in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
According to KRQE News, beer truck driver Aaron Quinones was unloading beer at the CVS on Menual and Eubank when he noticed an elderly woman being assaulted by a man with a gun.
“He [the suspect] told me something was wrong with the license plate and he kept, he was persistent in it [so I got out,]” said Virginia Conway, the victim in the assault.
“I went to get back in the car and he walked around in front of me and that’s when I knew something was not right,” she continued.
“He grabbed her and he threw her to the ground… As soon as I got around the car she was on the ground next to the driver’s side, and he pulled out a gun and said this is none of your business,” Quinones said. He then talked the man down, called police, and walked Conway back inside the CVS. It is not clear if the suspect has been apprehended.
“When he was there, oh I was so relieved that he was there, and I told him, ‘My God, you were my guardian angel…’ He kind of restored my faith in humanity,” Conway said.
Conway has since written a letter to the company’s CEO commending Quinones on his bravery.
“Just to read it and to go back through the events that happened, to know that she’s alright that makes me happy,” Quinones said.
